Food insecurity is an ongoing crisis in Canada. In 2022, almost 60% of Canadians reported having trouble feeding their families due to financial hardship.1

That’s what prompted McCain® to join forces with Second Harvest last year. With the support of our operators, we helped provide almost 300-thousand meals through our Turn the Tables on Hunger™ initiative. This year, your operation can take an active role feeding families facing hunger, and spreading awareness about food insecurity. Together as a restaurant community, we will fight to end hunger in Canada.
“THESE ARE OUR NEIGHBORS.”

FOOD INSECURITY IN CANADA
Second Harvest estimates—
EIGTEEN PERCENT
of Canadians receive charitable food assistance. That’s equivalent to the population of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta combined.
42 million
pounds of rescued food was redistributed through Second Harvest last year.
24.6 billion
pounds of potentially avoidable food loss and waste occurs in Canada each year.1

OUR GOALS
We’re committed to helping end hunger in Canada—one case of fries or apps at a time. From January 1-March 31, 2023, McCain® will donate $1 to Second Harvest for every eligible case of fries or apps purchased, until we hit our goal. $1 helps provide at least 2 meals secured by Second Harvest on behalf of agencies with food programs. When we hit our goal, we will have provided nearly 300,000 meals to Canadians facing hunger.. The maximum donation during the promotional period is $125,000.

It’s a win-win.
Today’s consumer appreciates aligning their buying power with businesses who participate in a worthy cause. Turn the Tables on Hunger™ makes it easy for restaurants to adopt and participate in a charitable effort that affects our friends, neighbors, and communities.
THE SOCIAL MEDIA TOOLKIT
Let guests and the restaurant community know about your involvement in this worthy cause. We’ve created a turnkey Social Media Toolkit for operators to create awareness.

Inside you’ll find ready-to-download, customizable social media posts, information on in-person promotion materials, and more, for use during this initiative (January 1- March 31, 2023).
